A Workshop at Mu'tah University
entitled "Civic Education, Achievements and Ambitions"
The Local Community
Development Unit at Mu'tah University arranged in coordination with the
Jordanian Center for Civic Education Studies (JCCES) a workshop entitled "Civic
Education, Achievements and Ambitions" in the presence of the president of the
University, the dean of the educational sciences faculty, Dr. Mohammed Rabab'a,
the Director of the Jordanian Center for Civic Education Studies, the director
of the Local Community Development Unit, Mr. Hussein Al Majali, and the
program's coordinator in the South, Ms. Hala AL Shaqareen. Prizes and
certificates were presented to graduate students from workshops that were held
by the Jordanian Center for Civic Education Studies at Mu'tah University. The
project's regional trainer, Ms. Sabah Al Nawaiseh, said that the Jordanian
Center for Civic Education Studies is working on arranging civic education
courses and workshops for Mu'tah University's students in the aim of identifying
the civic education role, building capacities for leadership abilities and
contributing in solving local community's problems. The director of the
Jordanian Center for Civic Education Studies, Ms. Mona Al Alami, explained the
role of the center in reinforcing the participation culture of the university's
students and stressed on encouraging them in participating in this activity.
Mr. Mohammed Rabab'a, the
Dean of the Education Sciences Faculty and the Deputy of the President of the
University, said that Mu'tah University worked and is still working hard on
sustaining community work in order to provide the community the best services
that enable it to stay within the frame of growth and development.
He added that they, at Mu'tah
University, and the concerned units and administrative departments and through
the academic faculties, work on providing everything possible to serve the local
communities, and this program is one among other programs that the university
believes in and encourages.
The Director of the Local
Community Development Unit, Mr. Hussein Al Majali, assured that Mu'tah
University is connected with the Jordanian Center for Civic Education Studies
through a Memorandum of Understanding that was signed last February. The
Memorandum of Understanding aims to reinforce civic education and good
citizenship culture in the Jordanian community as a whole. He also showed that
this Memorandum of Understanding enables civic education training through
projects for the purpose of reinforcing citizenship spirit and respecting the
law and constitution among the university's students.
