A Student Conference on the Digitization of Civic
Education Project Applied in 50 schools next year
Yesterday the
Jordanian Center for Civic Education
Studies, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and in the presence of
the representative of the Minister of Education Dr. Mohammed Al-Zub’i, Director
General of Training, organized a student conference entitled “Citizenship
Project, a Digitization of Civic Education Project” in the Holiday Inn Hotel.
In the conference, the outcomes of the projects of the
students who represented all the directorates of education were exhibited. They
revealed the spirit of belongingness, good citizenship, and the ability to
innovate by dealing with various local societal issues and presenting proposals
and recommendations to be submitted to decision makers.
The Head of the
Jordanian Center for Civic
Education, Mona Alami, asserted in a speech during the opening of the conference
that the ability of the educational system to develop creativity and innovation
to support teachers and care for them is the cornerstone in any educational
system. Consequently, the educational system can contribute to the progress and
development of knowledge. She indicated that the general goal of civic education
is to prepare citizens who are committed to their duties and belongingness to
their country and nation, defend their rights, and believe in freedom, justice,
and equality. Alami pointed out that the Digitization of Civic Education Project
started in August 2005 and is working on digitizing 17 lessons. She also said
that the Jordanian Center for Civic Education
studies, in cooperation with the Digitization Directorate in the Curricula
Administration and the Educational Training, Habilitation,
and Supervision
Directorate, will apply the project in 50 schools.
